Although I wish this statement could be true and every time you go to the gym or a class it’s the best workout you have ever had it’s just not true.
Realising this is the best way to take the pressure off your workouts. This doesn’t mean that your workout is pointless and you should just skip it because you don’t feel 100%. I love the saying that doesn’t matter how slow you are moving you are lapping everyone sitting on the couch. Sometimes that’s a great way to look at a workout, I don’t feel great but I’ll get more out of turning up and getting through it than just sitting on the couch. In my experience the workouts I haven’t wanted to do have turned into my most memorable. Even if it hasn’t been the best numbers wise just getting through it has left me with a bigger feeling of accomplishment than on days where I was 100% ready to go. Even when you don’t think you are going to have a great workout and you turn up, you can find that being in the environment and getting through those first few exercises, sets, reps you actually find your groove and your attitude changes from being one of negative self-talk to positive. That mindset change due to turning up and getting it done can change your whole day around! Just turning up and getting through the workout getting that small win for the day can not only change how you feel physically but help you clear your head and put you in a positive head space.
